Spring Cleaning Clearing House

Here's a couple of topics that didn't get the recognition they deserve from the start of 2010. First, the first ever co-ed Bad Gnus Social Society event took place in January as a small showing of revelers took to the midtown streets (and bars) for the Second Saturday Art Walk/Pub Crawl. Fusing a variety of art with a variety of drinking establishments, art was appreciated; beer was consumed; fun was had. I expect a larger turnout when we try this again during shorts and t-shirt weather.

Here's a group shot at the end of the night scooting out of Rubicon Brewery and not going back to the gay bar Bill wanted to go to. That's a better stop without the ladies, Bill.

Next, here is some grainy video of Lil' Sexy hitting the stage for the second straight year at the Mariemont talent show. I may have put too much vaseline on the lens to soften the boy's face. It's really more of an audio file at this point. I don't even have any pictures of his performance. I suck. Anyway, this year Maximum was the M.C. for the whole show. The kid might be afraid of birthday clowns, but he has no fear on the stage. Well, maybe if one of the acts involved clowns. He did great all night and during the assembly in front of the whole school during the day.

Now the Bad Gnus are ready to hit the season full throttle. The season lurched off to a great start with an opening game win and no forfeits during this little season. Here are the cutest twins in the world showing off thier modeling talents, wearing the 20th anniversary Bad Gnus shirt. We'll be selling these online just as soon as demand exists. I'll be waiting.

I expected that going into this week's game, the Gnus would be a little rusty coming off a bye week and a rainout. I knew Clayton would be looking to run over the catcher at the plate. I knew knobody kneeded to have a strong game as much as Stu. I knew new Gnu (first ever internet usage of three consecutive synonyms at the start of a sentence!) Greg T would shine in his second game. I had hoped someone would bring beer. (Thanks, John!)

What I didn't know was that the Bad Gnus defense would be so sharp! Limiting the Long Islanders to 3 runs in 7 innings, the Bad Gnus took home a relatively easy 9-3 victory. Good thing the defense played so solidly as the Gnus left a ton of runners on base. On the positive side, the Gnus had a lot of runners.

Lots of good candidates for Newcastle player of the game. Erik was smacking the ball all over the place. Greg T played another excellent game at first and at bat. Greg B pitched well and got a couple more hits. But the award this week goes to the Big Sexy. He got the new shirts, a few hits and made about 10 outs in the field. Yay me!
