2008 Entertainment Must-Haves

I threatened that if we didn't start playing some softball, I'd break back into entertainment news...

Top 6 Albums of 2008 (after 4 months)

1. The Racontuers - Consolers of the Lonely

2. Louis XIV - Slick Dogs and Ponies

3. Vampire Weekend - (Self Titled)

4. Jack Johnson - Sleep Throught the Static

5. The Presidents of the USA - These Are the Good Times People

6. The Black Keys - Attack & Release

Already some tasty music so far this year. The rankings will flucuate throughout the year and are inconsequential at this point. Just go pick up these CDs if you haven't already.

Now back to softball. Once again the Bad Gnus left their bats at home. Next week, we will have a sports psychiatrist visit us in the Bad Gnus locker room (The Longshot??) before the game. We have a double header week including games against the best team and (hopefully) the worst team in the league.

The first half of the Spring season has always been considered Spring Training for the Bad Gnus, so no one is really too worried at this point. A split this week will get us on the right foot for the second half. By the Summer League, the Gnus will be virtually unstoppable. That is if by "virtually", you mean in some kind of alternate, computer generated universe and if by "unstoppable" you mean out of control with no real direction or purpose.

This week, as with last, we lost by around 10 to around 3 and we never really seemed to be in too threatening of a position to get in it. I do remember thinking good thoughts about Kirk against Ahern and that he is the Newcastle Player of the Game. Against the T Sox, my brain hurts trying to remember a star performance. Clayton kept his perfect season going. Mike bled diving for a ball then throwing it away. Kirk was robbed of a couple of hits. Doug didn't give up any runs in his inning of pitching. So, let's give it to Erik. He got a fly ball and brought beer.

Next week we either read about some hot, two team softball action or the movies I'm most looking forward to seeing this summer... you choose.
